“2 years later”

Last week we welcomed all of our franchisees to Annapolis for our inaugural Franchisee Summit. We spent the day and evening discussing our system growth, where we are most focused on improving and sharing best practices. For us it was the first time our “original” franchisees and the folks we’ve added over the past year had all been in the same room.

Rewind to 2 years ago this week we were about to kick off opening 3 Timber franchises in 3 months. Annapolis, Raleigh and McLean. We were excited, super committed and nervous as hell. To say we didn’t know what we didn’t know would be the understatement of the century. We created great buzz on social media and didn’t have much of a marketing plan beyond opening. We showed up in droves with extra hands and hustle but didn’t have everything on paper. We woke up in December after 3 openings in 3 months and didn’t know what to do with ourselves.

To say that 1st winter was all peaches and roses would be a bold faced Franchise sack of shit. We faced major operational and awareness challenges that we never could have predicted. All credit to the grit of our franchise partners and willingness to continue to refine, hustle and represent our brand and product in the best way possible.

Fast forward two years and our unit count has doubled, our franchise group count has doubled and we are still learning every single day. Getting everyone together to share what challenges we’re all facing in our businesses and how we can work together to solve them is the best part of being a franchisor. Believing firmly in the relationship as a partnership where we win together is how we started this whole thing and a spirit we pledge to maintain no matter how many times our system doubles.

We came away from last week with key areas of focus and ensuring that every decision we make reflects that true partnership spirit is at the very heart of each and every to-do. We can’t wait for next year already and working together to build the foundation of something truly great.
